Week 6 - Windows Movie Maker

                                 

Dear Journal,

Whats up Readers ! I hope you had a productive week as  I have. 


Guess what this week in my reflections Im gonna take you on an interesting journey  on the creation of my movie using Microsoft Movie Maker.

We opened the morning with devotion by our classmate Nakima Williams.  A demonstration video was shown in how to download and use Windows Movie Maker.


What was the Task?

Open gmail account, open  your google drive  and select shared with me then 

Download and Install  Microsoft Movie Maker to devices


Outline step by step instructions in how to complete the task 

1.  After installation, prepare your movie script  in google forms to include: 
        a. Grade
        b. Teachers Name
        c. Subject 
        d. Topic 
         e. Area of study

2. The next step was to add/install images from the story board. Select add images/videos, then select choose from files, select photo then upload photo to the story board then click on add selected. 


3. After the installation of images the creation of the movie should look something like this.

4. The next step was to add animations to the film. The option was to choose from the many types offered.

5. The next step in the creation of the film  was to add visual effects to highlight the mood and settings.


6. Next step was to select Project and use any of the following icons  which will allow  emphasis to the film. 

7. The next step in this process of creating this film was  to return to home and  here's the interesting part, it was time to add music any version of your choice to the script created so far. Make sure your music is student friendly. It would be useful to use the music tools icon where you can add volume or fade in and out the sound of the music.

 After which select the duration time for the music.


                                          Part 2
 1.Go to the home page, select add video, select video from your files or download and install your video using YTD down loader its simple and easy

In this segment, our task was to now add a video, if you are adding a video to your movie remember to add a video that is approximately  3 minutes long.  Be sure to set a start time and an ending time for the video

Final Task was to preview and play then save, save movie as a project  and to upload movie to Google Drive and share with the tutor. 



What were the challenges faced in doing the task,if any and explain how were they overcome ?


Challenges, there were so many. I wanted to find the appropriate video for my film and some did not the names of the animals and their young attached. The other challenged i faced was  getting the sound of my video to split from the actually sound from the movie so I practiced the 3 p's (practice, patients, perseverance) and asked for assistance from my classmates and i also utilize google search to assist. 



The next challenge was getting my movie to save (lord have mercy). I started to worry wondering if i was ever gonna get my film sent to my tutor knowing that I am  a person who fret a lot. My other challenge was the use of the internet, with such poor quality of service I was  not able to complete my refection how I planned. The final challenge was adding the license by using Creative Commons I had to break from doing it several times and I finally decided to ask one classmate to assist me in which they ably did.

Were there anything new learnt as a result of teaching and learning experience? If yes, what was it and explain how you benefited from it .

With the change in times and technology and a new generation of learners, I have discovered  that I can now create  movies to reach every level of my students. I no longer have to use manila and pictures to capture my students attention that was in the past  I can simply create a movie utilizes Windows Movie Maker. Even as an teenage now an adult I never got really a good experience in how to use this application and now thanks to the Department of Teacher Education I am now more equipped and ready to make even more movies among my return to the classroom. 

My students will also be challenged in the making and creation of movies with the assistance of their parents.


 Explain how you will use/implement what was covered, in  the lesson,in your class room.
   

I intend to implement this in my lesson by, for example if im doing a topic on family I can create a cartoon movie using narrators to identify and describe the different types of families in Antigua and Barbuda  and their functions  and activities done as a family
