Week 1: Role Of Technology

Dear Blog,

Today's EDET class was very interesting. I gained so much information that I never knew about, never heard about. There were  a few things that were familiar to me but I gained more information about these words in the technological world quite interesting. We began our session where we looked at the various types of technology that can and should be used to enhance the learning of our students. We are now  living in a technological world, as we go about our daily lives we must use or utilize some sort of technology. Technology is here to enhance our way of life and to make it easier. As we look around we just can do without it, it's part of our everyday life. The role of technology in education is just on the horizon because as the years pass we are going  see bigger and better things and more advanced forms of technology.

We were presented with a set of words such as :

 Assure Model Lesson,  Video, Windows Movie Maker, Blogs, Google Drive Forum, Mind map, Wordle, Prezi, Podcast,Video,Spreadsheet Gradebook, Word Processed Document. 

What was the task?

Next, It was research time, here we had to use our various devices to research as much as we can within a specified time one of the technological devices we now used in our modern society to communicate with each other.  Upon completion we  were challenged to present in any form song, dance, poetry, rap drama the choice was yours. The creativity  put on by my classmates was beyond my expectation.

In the second half of  the class we focused on the six  basic categories of communication

We paused in our discussion to watch a very unique and interesting video via YouTube which showed the types of media used in the 19th century, 20th century and the 21st century. Here we had the opportunity to identify, name, discuss the century in which it was made whether it was old or new or  do we see advance types of these media among us today.  We also shared in discussion how these media are used in our everyday lives.

The final section  of our class was the various channels of communication.  I was able to list a few examples:

 Face to Face, Mobile, Broadcast,Voicemail,Electronic, IVR Written,Web Chat, Email.

Group members finally came together and worked as a team to make a beautiful presentation to include the various types of technology→ Media →Communication→People.

This  a piece which my group and I created together to show our understand for 'The role of Technology in Education'.
